To activate, find the small metal disc inside the pad and press it until you feel or hear a click. It might take several firm clicks the first time, as the disc has slits (not holes) that need to open up for activation.

First-time activation can sometimes be stubborn due to shallow slits in the disc. If that happens, keep clicking the disc until it activates. It will eventually start to crystallize and heat up.

The disc is designed to be clicked in and out, not bent the opposite way. Bending it backwards can snap it. If it does break, don’t worry—you can still use either half to activate the pad in the future.

Right after activation, shake and smush the pad to help the heat spread evenly and make the pad soft and moldable. This also prevents it from becoming stiff.
